The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life.

About Us

Our History

MeFCA began when a group of families in Southern Maine reached out to one another. Their common connection was they had become adoptive families. Their children were born in Cambodia, China, Korea and Viet Nam. They wanted to reach out to other families and celebrate their families and their children. The original name of the organization was Maine Families with Children from Asia. These parents created a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization to ensure their efforts had long-term benefit.

Our Future

As MeFCA evolved, we realized there was a need to reach out to all families who choose to bring a child into their home, whether by adoption, kinship care or foster-to-adopt programs. While the manner and methods vary greatly, the desire to celebrate the family and the child's heritage remains the same. MeFCA has maintained its non-profit 501(c)(3) status. With its new name, the updated mission of MeFCA is to reach out to all families, providing resources and support and friendship.
